"In the 1990's a number of us had been talking about the possibility of collecting our personal memories of Shri Mataji, over the previous twenty years or so, or even longer, and in fact Shri Mataji had also asked some people to do this, unknown to those of us talking about this. In December 1999, Shri Mataji called to see me at Her bungalow at MTDC, Ganapatipule, India. It was about 44, Chelsham Road, London, which I had sold some ten years before. I did not say much during this meeting, which mainly concerned the other people in the room with Her.

After this was over I realised that although I hadn't noticed their departure, the other people had gone away, and I was alone with Shri Mataji. So I asked if we could make a book of the personal memories of Her. She replied that it was a part of the history, the human side Her incarnation and should be done. That was how it started, because we needed Shri Mataji's permission to go all out for this sort of a project."
